Advantage DJ: Northern Trust Playoff Hole

There were some rumbles from Tour players on the Northern Trust playoff hole choice, some saying that it’s the worst hole on the golf course.

The dog-leg left at Glen Oaks is guarded by a large pond that most players avoid to give them a 140-150 yard shot into a tough green. Others, however, are able to bomb the ball 330 yards to give themselves a 90 yard shot in. For those who are able to fly the ball 315 yards, the fairway is essentially 100 yards wide and therefore favour these players.

After Speith hit his tee-shot in the middle of the fairway to 147 yards, DJ made the decision to pound his drive over the pond that left him with a 60 degree wedge-in.

Johnson simply learned from the previous day when he hit his tee-ball through the fairway on 18 which cost him a chip-out. With his towering cut, the lowest risk for him was to take an agressive line.
