Danielle Kang Wins Women’s PGA Championship With Praise From Celeb. Buddies

Two-Time U.S. Women’s Amateur champion and now Major champion Danielle Kang won her first Tour event at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. It was the most popular win on the LPGA Tour this year due to the San Francisco native being only the second U.S.-born winner in the past 17 editions on the Women’s PGA.

As a past member at Sherwood Country Club in LA, Kang received huge praise from some of the more popular members. Wayne Gretzky, Caitlyn Jenner, Marcus Allen and Dustin Johnson all reached out to congratulate the Cali-born player.

Losing her father, who also caddied, to cancer in her second LPGA season made the Amateur Champion hype even harder to live up to in the spotlight of the Pro Tour. In 30 career majors Kang’s best finish was T-14 at The Open in 2012.

“I think that it’s been a really difficult road for me for the past four or five years,” Kang said. “It’s life, though. You have to pick yourself up, and you have to keep working hard at it, and then believe in what you’re doing, and not letting yourself down.
