Dustin Johnson Says He Has Never Failed A Drug Test

Dustin Johnson has been absent from the PGA TOUR for five months.

It was unclear at first whether Johnson was suspended for drug use or taking a leave of absence. He sat down with ESPN‘s Tom Rinanldi to clear the air.

Rinaldi asked Johnson if he had been suspended for six months for failing his third drug test. “Well, I decided to take a leave of absence. The tour, they put out their own statement, and I’ve got the full support of the PGA TOUR,” he said.

Rinaldi specified three drug tests that were reported. One for marijuana in 2009 and two for cocaine (2012 and 2014). “Well, like everyone, I’m tested regularly by the tour and, as far as that’s concerned, I mean, you know I haven’t failed anything,” said Johnson.

When pressed by Rinaldi about cocaine use, Johnson replied with, “There is a lot of speculation, and there is a lot of curiosity about that, but I’m not really here today to talk about that. I had some issues, and I’m still working on things, but cocaine is not one of them.”

Johnson is expected to return to competitive golf next month.
