Golf Fitness: Strengthen the Spine for a Longer Career

Looking back at Tiger’s swing in his prime it’s easy to understand why he has had so many back problems. The big coiled-up backswing followed by his signature jarring downswing in repeated practice sessions and tournaments must have had an impact. Our bodies simply weren’t made for this movement so we have to do all we can to prevent a short golf career.

Even the most fluid swings put strain on the spine, so here are some exercises suggest by Golf Digest’s Ben Shear to “strengthen the muscles at the bottom of the spine, and improve flexibility in the mid and upper back”.
