Golf School: Grip the Putter Loosely
We all know that a deceleration through the swing or stroke results in some of the worst shots in golf. This thought during the putting stroke, however, usually makes us grip the putter too tight and block the putt outside because the face isn’t able to close.
Golf Digest recently wrote that the best putters have a loose grip which allow them to close the face and move back to the inside of the putter line after impact.
Next time you’re on the practice green, watch where your putter head ends just after impact and make sure that it’s on the inside line of your putt.
Jordan Speith is a perfect example of this.
