International Team Plays Underdogs at Presidents Cup
With the Presidents Cup a few days away and a look at both team’s rosters, the International team has to embrace the role of underdog as USA’s team boasts a strong string of major winners and top-world ranking.
With an average world ranking of 15.5 on the US side versus the 31.5 average for the Internationals, Liberty National should be painted with red, white and blue, in theory.
As we know, however, golf is more so a game of emotion than a game of numbers and the International side will have to find that positive energy in order to have a chance at the title.
The Americans are a perfect 6-0-0 so International Captain Nick Price will have to find a spark to break the streak.
Brandel Chamblee offers his words of advice for the captain.
“If I were Nick Price I’d be talking about what a year this has been in terms of upsets,” said Chamblee, citing Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election, Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, and South Korean Kim Si-woo’s victory at the Players Championship.
Regardless of the outcome, Liberty National will be an incredible host course as the NY skyline and Hudson River merge the beautiful world of golf with the concrete jungle.
