Jon Rahm Wins Irish Open With Record Setting-24

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, one of the European Tour’s biggest events, hosted a slew of the world’s top players at the Portstewart Golf Club in Northern Ireland this past week.

Rory McIlroy, the event’s host, missed the cut on Friday after a one over par two-day total but his playing partner Jon Rahm shot an opening 67 and 65 to finish 12 under and one shot off the lead.

Rahm shared the lead after Saturday’s match and amassed a four shot lead after opening Sunday’s round with a hole-out eagle. The young Spaniard went on to win the tournament with a record breaking -24 and a six shot cushion.

Moving from his world golf ranking of 500th + last year to a probable top 10 after this win proves Jon Rahm’s bright future in the game.
