Marky Mark and the Funky Shank

Yesterday, the Waste Management Phoenix Open had its annual pro-am tournament in sunny Scottsdale AZ. At just under 78 000 people, the day boasts wild crowds who are there to see their favorite pros, celebrities and upper-management-from-corporate-sponsors tee it up and interact with the crowd.

The famed 16th hole was of-course a highlight as music blared, people cheered and players got to rib each other with a microphone in hand.

For most celebs, the music and rowdy crowds were likely muted with the help of a few Coors Lights in between shots. Marky-Mark Wahlberg however, apparently hadn’t had his dose of swing-lube. As the ‘Sniper’ pegged one up, his buddy and pro for the day, Bubba Watson, announced to the crowd that the, always even-keeled, actor was quite nervous standing on the tee block. The inevitable ensued. Wahlberg shanked one into the grandstands and got the loudest roar all day. He found the face of the club on the second attempt but we all know the less-than-satisfying feeling of the do-over.

So great to see guys like Mark Wahlberg, Bo Jackson and Michael Phelps out there playing with the pros and interacting with the fans. A total of 500 000 plus people will be in attendance this weekend at the Greatest Show on Grass and we’re loving the atmosphere the WM Phoenix Open is creating.
