Speith’s Caddy Tweaked Tradition After Travelers Win

Traditionally, when a Tour player wins a PGA tournament, his caddy grabs him the flag from the 18th hole for a keepsake. Trying this at your own course after winning a couple bucks off of Ted will likely earn you a stern talking-to by your club’s Carl Spackler, however.

After Speith’s incredible hole-out win from the bunker on the first playoff hole at the Travelers Championship, his caddy Michael Greller decided to tweak the tradition a tad. He grabbed the rake from the trap saying that “it would look pretty cool in the man cave”.

After getting up and down from there to make the playoff and holing out from there to win it, I’d say the Assistant Greens keeper at TPC River Highlands will part ways with the rake without a fuss.
