Team Murray Wins Eastwood-Murray Cup

With ‘Crosby Weather’ threatening the AT&T Pro-Am on the Monterey Peninsula this week, the celebrities were out in full force on Wednesday to compete in the 3M Celebrity Challenge. $100 000 in donations is up for grabs in the alternate-shot format for five holes of golf at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Each hole is worth $20 000 towards the celebrity’s charity of choice, with $1000 guaranteed to the charity for being on the board. The tournament is played on what has been called the “Whiskey Run”. Holes number 1, 2, 3, 17 and 18 were named-so when Bing Crosby and his buddies would allegedly be drinking whisky at Club 19 and they’d want to get out and play a few more.

Within this tournament is the the coveted Eastwood-Murray Cup which Bill Murray and Clint Eastwood compete for each year. The captains choose their team of celebrities and the team with the most holes won, earns the trophy. As he was recovering from the flu, Eastwood was unable to attend. He however kept in touch throughout the day to see how his team was doing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as Bill Murray’s team, comprised of Gary Mule Deer, Andy Garcia, Kelly Rohrbach, Kunal Nayyar and Josh Duhamel, took the victory raising $60 000 towards their charities. Nayyar drained a two foot putt on the final hole to win a carry-over from the 17th and seal the deal.

Always a crowd favorite, Murray when asked how the day was going: “So far so good for us. There haven’t been any injuries and not even a police report about anything so everyone is pretty well behaved and it is a good day in Monterey.”

Congrats on the win Bill!

We’re looking forward to see what Murray has up his sleeve for the rest of the week.
